Crowning an operating model fit to accelerate technology maturity

Helping Historic Royal Palaces put strategic ambitions into delivery reality

HRP had great ambitions to be a charity for everyone, but with their digital and IT strategies not linking up, they were struggling to make it a reality. They needed transparency, structure and improved operating models.

When ‘try turning it off and on again’ is not the solution, Transform are here to help.

The challenge:

HRP’s new strategy is to be a charity for everyone, and having the right tech capabilities is key to achieving this ambition. However, COVID had resulted in the team being scaled back and as the work ramped back up post-COVID, IT needed a step change to deliver this.

The Solution:

  • Review – we worked with the team to review the current ways of working against best practice to identify the strengths and any gaps.
  • Operating model – we worked with them to build up a picture of the service and outcomes that HRP needed from IT to support the new organisational strategy.
  • Pragmatic next steps – we advised them on practical actions on how to evolve the systems and capabilities

The Results:

Transform helped HRP understand that a new operating model was needed to unlock the ambition of being a charity for everyone. A new approach, approved by the trustees, is now being used to guide their activities. The work Transform did, gave HRP a clear way forward, with stakeholder buy-in, and clear actions.

To break out the loop we needed the right blend of ambition and pragmatism; the skills and experience Transform brought gave us exactly that.
