Justice and security is under transition
In the face of heightened demand for more secure, transparent and efficient services; agencies are reforming to place people at the centre of their roadmaps. People-centred services that deliver faster and fairer justice. But in their way are data protection, ethical AI and interoperability challenges, and legacy systems that fragment processes.
The opportunity lies in secure data flows across the justice chain, underpinned by ethical AI and security-by-design – reducing friction, enabling self-service, automating tasks, and giving both victims and civil servants clear case visibility.
Traditional monolithic programmes have struggled to deliver lasting change. Our pragmatic, incremental, problem-led approach uses nimble, cross-disciplinary teams to define real problems and deliver practical, responsible modernisation.
We help justice and security agencies modernise in the right way to build transparency, trust and stronger relationships with the people they serve.
Trusted and accessible justice: what a decade of digital transformation has taught us
The UK’s justice system is under pressure to modernise. Though the figures alone - over 80,000 cases, and counting, in the Crown Court backlog - is proof of the need to reform, courts have also historically been slow and complex for citizens.
Because our ethos is deeply rooted in designing around users, we believe accessible justice should move beyond just the ability to file a claim or schedule a date online. It is time for public-facing services to fundamentally shift the way in which users can interact; not just for the good of citizens, but for the good of the services as well. Evidence from our work in the UK Justice sector indicates that well-designed digital services can improve the efficiency and accessibility of justice manyfold.
Our newest white paper explores the role that AI has to play in justice systems, as well as outlines a practical framework for accessible justice that includes six factors working together to determine usable justice services.
We believe that technology can reduce friction, improve efficiency and expand access to justice, but only if it’s rooted in trust and secure.
