Transform Academy: designing sustainable services

Terms like Sustainability and Net-Zero have become so ingrained in our vocabularies nowadays that it's likely to pop up in daily conversation. But what exactly does it mean? In a world where environmental, social and economic impact can no longer be ignored, how can we do our part in building sustainable services?

Those are some of the questions we’re hoping to answer in our newest Transform Academy. Our portfolio of Academies tackles wide-ranging topics in some of the key areas impacting organisations today, and our newest workshop is no different. We’re excited to announce ‘Designing Sustainable Services’, taking place on Thursday 12th September – 9am to 1pm, with lunch and networking, at our London office.

In this session, our Director of Sustainable Business Consulting, Claire Robinson, will lead the attendees through a half day workshop covering theory, as well as deep-diving the attendees’ very own services. Through interactive exercises, you’ll explore how to make them more sustainable.

The half-day will cover:

• An introduction to Net Positive Thinking and our newly crafted Transformational Design, as well as Sustainability and Inclusivity in the design space
• Case studies and hands-on examples to bring the theory to life
• A causal loop exercise for every attendee to explore how to make your service more sustainable

Key take aways:

• An understanding of a Net Positive approach to services – generating measurable social and environmental benefits for citizens
• An understanding of Sustainable, Inclusive Design techniques and how they can practically be applied in projects
• The ability to identify negative social and environmental patterns/reinforcing loops in services, and define potential positive interventions to address these
• How to create a programme of optimisations and interventions to improve a service’s environmental and social impact
