Bringing Digital Sustainability to Manchester Tech Fest 2024

Our Director of Sustainable Business Consulting Claire Robinson took the stage on Diversity and Inclusion and Tech4GoodDay at Manchester Tech Fest, outlining how incorporating digital sustainability is good for business, delivering economic outcomes as well as delivering benefits for people and planet.

The talk is set in 3 main parts: 

• sharing the scale of digital’s environmental footprint, and the scale of the opportunity for digital services to help address that
• sharing Net Positive thinking and our Net Positive manifesto as a framework to help deliver positive change
• introducing our Net Positive characters – a topline practical section with day to day interventions for each role type.
  
  

We surveyed the audience with a slido to understand which of the ‘Net Positive’ Characters they felt most closely aligned to, resulting in ‘The Connector’ being the most common among our audience. Many of the tech savvy audience had not been aware of the environmental or social impact of the tech industry, and were keen to engage in problem solving and finding ways to build more responsible products and services
